A Useful Planning Tool

I recently heard about and started using a tool called Trello. Trello has boards that you can organize into lists and put cards inside lists. I started using Trello for tracking my tasks using three lists - TO DO, DOING, and DONE. I also use Trello to manage my homework.

Trello is also a collaboration tool that you can work together with friends/colleagues.

Here is a snapshot of a Trello board:

UPI PIN

Hello,

Nowadays, everyone is using UPI through apps like PhonePe and Google Pay. But what exactly is UPI?

UPI is useful to make electronic payments without knowing Bank Account Number and other details. It is like an email address for your bank account.

I found a small YouTube Video that explains UPI in more detail.

The Monsoon Season

 Hello, This is Rayalaseema's blog.

We went past monsoon season. But we are still receiving rain.

I observed that all ponds and wells are filled due to heavy rains. Here are some pictures I took of ponds near my house.

Usually, the Rayalaseema district recieves less rainfall. We now have many visitors who come to see the overflowing ponds and streams. This is also good news to farmers, especially those having borewells.

Here is a Google Earth location of my area.

Magic of Lost Temple

Hello, this is Rayalaseema's blog.

Today, I wish to share about a good story collection book I am reading.

The book is "The Magic of the Temple" by Sudha Murthy. Sudha Murthy's stories are more attractive to me because they are very easy to understand.

The book is about adventures of Nooni, a city girl, who is very surprised at the unexpected pace of life in her grandparent's village. Not being fazed with the turn of events, she engages herself in many of the odd jobs that are available in the village. She resorts to doing work like Papad making, organizing picnics, learning to ride a cycle and a long list of activities with her new found friends.

I think it is a good idea for mothers to tell these stories to their children at bed time.

You can purchase the book on Amazon.in.

Groundnut Harvesting

Hello, this is Rayalaseema blog.

Today I am going to describe groundnut harvesting. This is based on observing agrarian lands near my surroundings.

I was very interested in peanuts, especially, how they are grown and harvested.

  • First I observed that this crop is mostly grown in the rainy season. The duration of the crop is mostly 4 months.

  • I observed that in the month of July, Farmers plow the land and plant the nuts. After one month, they loosen the soil and remove the weeds, which are unnecessary to the crop. And it grows well with rainwater. Some farmers apply fertilizers like Urea.

  • Harvesting time usually comes in October. then farmers pluck the plants along with the nuts and leave them for two days in the hot sun. Then peanuts can be taken out easily.

  • The final seeds are picked from pods manually. The harvest is usually 40 kgs per acre (pods). And may give 30 kgs seeds. Usually, 1 kg in the market goes for 100 Rs.

Then groundnuts are ready to sell or used by the farmer's house.
